International Days Engagement

International Days Engagement
Across the calendar year, the United Nations and the global community designate specific days to focus attention on the most pressing issues facing humanity — social justice, press freedom, education, health, and more. These days are not symbolic gestures. They are structured opportunities to connect global conversations to national accountability. The Office of the Leader of the Opposition has identified a programme of internationally recognised days that align with our parliamentary mission. For each, we engage through both parliamentary and non-parliamentary means — publications, social media, events, and direct public communication. In January 2026, we introduced AI-powered listening support to our publications to improve accessibility. In February 2026, we organised a podcast discussion aligned with World Social Justice Day. Monthly engagements are planned throughout the year. This initiative extends the reach of the opposition beyond the chamber, building the broader civil society and public connections that are essential to effective democratic oversight.
