Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Integration

Governance does not exist in isolation from the world. The United Nations Sustainable Development Goals represent a global commitment to justice, sustainability, and inclusive development — and every state institution has a role to play in advancing them. The Office of the Leader of the Opposition has taken on the responsibility of embedding SDG awareness into its daily work. This means examining each goal for its relevance to parliamentary oversight, administrative practices, and policy analysis. Staff are being oriented on how SDG principles apply to what they do. The aim is to ensure that when the office scrutinises government policy, it does so with a lens that is globally informed and locally relevant. In doing so, the office strengthens its capacity to provide early warning on governance failures that affect sustainable development and to promote equity and inclusiveness — two of the core pillars of its mission.
